Odin’s Chosen Returns to the Vista Viking Festival
Introduced in 2026 and returning for 2027, the festival edition of Odin’s Chosen gives adult festival guests a chance to step off the sidelines and test their grit across authentic heavy athletic disciplines.
Participation requires purchased adult admission to the Vista Viking Festival plus a separate registration and an additional competition fee. Registration details coming soon.
Your Path to Odin’s Chosen
Odin’s Chosen is an established, standalone strength competition held separately from the Vista Viking Festival. Founded three years ago, the independent competition will mark its fourth landmark event in summer 2027.
While the festival competition is open to adult attendees, winners of the festival competition receive invitations to compete at the separate Odin’s Chosen event. Competing at the festival is your opportunity to earn that invitation.
2026 Challenge Highlights
Look back at the four grueling disciplines featured in 2026. The official 2027 festival challenge lineup will be announced as event planning continues.
Sandbag Throw
Viking Ship Pull
Viking Press
Dinnie Stones Lift
Competitors launched weighted sandbags vertically over an elevated crossbar, demanding explosive lower-body power and precision.
Athletes strapped into heavy harnesses to drag a weighted wooden ship sled across arena turf against the clock.
An intense overhead pressing feat testing raw shoulder stability and locked-out endurance across continuous maximum repetitions.
Replicating historic Scottish lifting traditions, contenders gripped dual asymmetric stones to break ground in tests of grip.
