What is the Vista Viking Festival?
Vista Viking Festival is hosted by Norway Hall Foundation and presented by Norwegian Fish Club Odin and Norge Lodge of Sons of Norway. On the grounds, spectators can enjoy a variety of entertainment all day long on two stages. In addition to fine musical performers and acts, you can also enjoy amazing arts and crafts for children, delicious ethnic food, fine spirits, competitions, ax throwing, archery, spear throwing, Viking villages and encampments. Join us for a day of fun!
What are the dates and hours?
We are open Saturday, September 21 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm AND Sunday,
September 22, 2019, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm.
How much are the tickets for admission? What does the admission price include?
Adults 21 & up — $15
Ages 13-20 — $10
Ages 6-12 — $3
Under 5 — Free
Admission includes all entertainment, living history exhibits, battle demonstrations, craft demonstration, bread making, and activities available in the KidZone.
How much is parking?
Parking at Guajome Park Academy and Vista High School — $5
There is a free shuttle to and from the festival. ADA shuttle will be available. See Directions Page for information on Off-site parking and more details.
Military, with valid ID, may park for free at Vista High School or Guajome Park Academy.
Is there a place to secure bicycles?
The Viking Festival does not currently have a bicycle rack. There is no charge to secure
May we bring outside food and drink?
No outside food and drink are permitted. Tailgating/Grilling on our premises is not
permitted and you will be asked to leave without refund.
For 2019, we have added food vendors to increase selection and decrease wait times.
What other amenities are available?
For your convenience, we have the following on the festival grounds: ATMs, Restrooms,
Handicapped Restrooms, First Aid, Lost & Found
Is the Festival wheelchair accessible?
Yes, with the understanding that we are an outdoor event. The food and shopping
areas are on pavement. Upon request, we can provide a ramp for entry into our
heritage hall. We are also on open ground and under the trees with rough terrain. You
may encounter hills and roots. It is best to have a strong friend available to help you
push your chair if yours is not motorized. ADA shuttle bus from Vista High School parking will be available.
May we bring a pet?
Pets are not permitted.
Smoking, including vaping, cigars or pipes, is not permitted on the grounds. We have one Designated Smoking Zone which is outside the festival near the entrance gate. The use of cannabis in any form is prohibited at all times.
Do I have to come in costume?
No, comfortable clothes are recommended. Many of our guests come in costume and
we feel that the whole experience is heightened and more fun when you come dressed
Does the Viking Festival have costumes for rent?
Sorry, we do not provide costumes for rent; however, there may be costume-type
clothing available for purchase in the shopping area.
Any article of clothing or accessory worn by an individual (staff, festival participants, or the general public) that causes or has the potential to cause a disruption to the festival environment will not be allowed.
Clothing, jewelry, backpacks, buckles, and tattoos shall be free of writing, pictures, or any other insignia that are crude, vulgar, hateful, profane, or sexually suggestive or which advocate racial, ethnic, or religious prejudice or the use of drugs, violence, or weapons. This includes phrases/names, which may have dual meaning as well as
clothes that are worn indicating gang affiliation, such as gloves, bandanas of certain colors and/or any other type of colored clothing.
Shirts and footwear must be worn on the property as all times. The general public may not be shirtless and/or barefoot at any time on the festival property.
Excessive use of profane or vulgar spoken language is not allowed.
Tattoos that depict anything prohibited in these rules must be covered at all times.
Attire with stylized writing designating gang-related phrases is prohibited.
Any individual may be asked to remove or change any garment or accessory that is determined by a festival official to be disruptive, dangerous, or inappropriate.
The Viking Festival reserves the right to not allow admittance to any individual who is considered non-compliant in any way or form to any part of the Viking Festival Dress Code Policy. Should any individual be found to be non-compliant to any part of the Dress Code Policy on festival property, he or she may be removed from the property. In addition, lewd, drunken, or any behavior deemed inappropriate by festival staff will be grounds for removal.
By entering upon these premises, please be informed that your photograph or image maybe taken on the sons of Norway property. As such, you and on behalf of your minors hereby agree to relinquish any reasonable expectation of privacy and understanding that the use of your image does not violate any right of privacy, law, regulation or agreement. Moreover, you hereby Grant permission to the Vista Viking Festival, and its affiliates to use, or authorize others to use, any photograph, motion picture, image recording or any other record of your participation in the activities within the festival in whole or in part, throughout the Universe, in perpetuity and all media and means, now known or hereafter developed or discovered, for commercial purposes or any other legitimate purpose whatsoever.
